Sean Breen wins Captain (Frederick Moran's) Prize

Sean Breen won Captain Frederick Moran's Prize on Saturday 7th July 2012 with an outstanding score of 81 stableford points pushing Michael Lawler into the runner-up spot with 78 points. In an incredible duel in the sun, Sean, leader from the first round with 41 points, kept his nerve throughout despite being put under enormous pressure by Michael who has won this competition on a number of previous occasions. The day was an astounding success and nobody more then our Captain Fred deserved the glorious weather that we experienced on the day and the throngs of people on the balcony basking in the sun to watch the final stages made for a really special occasion. Conor Sutton Runner-Up in Connacht Boys Open

Conor Sutton was runner-up in the Connacht Under 18 Open Boys Championships which was held in Gort Golf Club between 3rd and 5th July. This is a significant achievement for one of our Juvenile members and a result that will form the foundation for many future successes for one of our most exciting prospects. The field consisted of 152 of the best young players in the country and beyond and to finish second from such an illustrious group speaks volumes for Conor's future potential. Conor opened his account with a 75 and followed this up with marvellous rounds of 71 and 69 for a total of 215, three shots behing the eventual winner J. Sugrue from Mallow. Congratulations to Conor on such a wonderful performance.
