Gavin O'Connor and Ciaran Reale in double success in Skerries

It was a case of Snap for Gavin O'Connor and Ciaran Reale who won the Senior and Junior Scratch Cups last weekend in Skerries matching the achievement of Gavin and Aidan Carleton in Beaverstown just a couple of short months ago. Both won their respective events by a single shot in similar circumstances finishing in superb style with a series of birdies when it appeared that their chances had gone. Many congratulations to Gavin and Ciaran on their great achievements.

Malahide Under 15's through to Leinster Quarter Finals

Malahide had an outstanding win over Beaverstown last weekend in the Under 15 Championships to reach the Leinster Quarter Finals where our opponents will be Balgriggan. It was a fine performance from the team who were relatively higher handicaps than Beaverstown receiving shots in 3 of the 5 matches. AJ McCabe got the team off to a great start winning his match 4 & 2 and Karl 'The Machine' Kennedy followed that up by cruising to a 4 & 3 victory. That left Malahide needing one more match and this fell to Robert Byrne. Robert found himself 5 up through 10 holes but was pegged back to 1 by the 14th but a superb short game display over the closing holes saw him finally win on the 16th hole. In the other matches Ciaran Conway played an amazing match against a supposed 'bright light' in Irish Under 15 golf and was 2 up when called in while Daniel Murphy was going up the 18th when also called in. Many congratulations to the team and the very best of luck in the remainder of the competition.
